A Non-Fiction Anthology Series by Garret Harkawik

Index Drift is a confounding and portentous new documentary anthology series. The first installment, titled “Through A Deep Culture” is made up of seven chapters. It is currently screening both as a whole and as individual segments at film festivals and other venues, and will premiere online in 2025. The second installment is currently in post-production and I am currently filming the third.

Index Drift will be made up of the kind of non-fiction film work that I’ve been making for the past fifteen years. While many of the stories will be self-contained, others will carry over from one installment to the next, allowing me to follow stories as they evolve over months, years or possibly decades. This URL will eventually become the landing page for the series when it premieres online.

Installments will be released annually, or possibly more frequently. None will have a standard length or structure, but each will be divided into chapters. The series will be available for free.

Through A Deep Culture premiered in its entirety at Plex Arts Fest in Burlington in May, and an excerpt titled “Mother’s House” screened at the Vermont Film & Folklore Festival.

I am specifically interested in screening the series in non-traditional / micro-cinema spaces. If you would like to screen it, let me know.
